About the role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a high performing, diverse team of people from a variety of backgrounds in academia, civil & mechanical engineering, contaminated land, mining, construction, geophysical exploration and GIS.

We are looking someone who has a passion for plans and information coupled to an ability to visualise this in a 3D world. In essence, we investigate complex historical mining information shown on plans - some very old and sparsely detailed - alongside modern site investigation information and OS mapping to bring it to life our mining heritage and its potential modern day impact. This helps our varied customers understand what it means for them.

This role will appeal to you if you want a role where you get involved in mapping and interrogating information across Great Britain - which includes working with the devolved administrations in Scotland and Wales as well as organisations such as NRW, the Environment Agency and Network Rail to name but a few.

About you:

Demonstrable experience of working with GIS/CAD, historical plans and information - preferably within a mining or engineering geology context.

A qualification, or working towards a qualification, in an associated discipline or someone who is able to demonstrate suitable experience for the role.

Experience of giving great customer service to engage with a wide range of stakeholders - both internal and external customers (member of the public, MPs, solicitors, conveyancer, consultants).

Knowledge of the historical mining legacy of Great Britain (or similar field), with a good working knowledge of MS Office suite of products.

The ability to work closely with other teams to support their core activities.

Being agile and adaptable to change - to seek out continuous improvement in how we do things.

The ability to engage and communicate effectively with project and non-project people at every level.

Analytical with excellent reporting skills.

A methodical and organised approach to task management, in particular multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment

A desire to continue to learn and develop professionally.
