Senior Pavement Engineer

Homebased

£40,000 to £55,000

Senior Pavement Engineers are required to join a growing large Civil Engineer business on a permanent basis. In the role, you will plan, specify, procure and supervise pavement investigation works, schedule laboratory testing and perform suitable numerical analysis to produce detailed design documentation (drawings, specifications and reports) in compliance with the UK DMRB and MCDHW to both project programme and budget. A key part of the role will be to identify and pursue business opportunities in relation to the supply of pavement engineering professional services.

Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience in the use of Highways Agency Pavement Management System (HAPMS) and/ or other pavement management system.
  • Highly competent knowledge of all sections of the DMRB Volume 7, Pavement Design and Maintenance, TRL Reports and appropriate British Standards.
  • You'll demonstrate experience in direct and back analysis assessment of Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) using Dynatest ELMOD 6
  • Vast experience in the planning, procurement and supervision of pavement investigations
  • Significant experience in providing pavement consultancy services to local government on transport and multi-disciplinary schemes.
  • Significant experience of the preparation and specification of 700 Series Appendix documents for both major and small scale projects using Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW).
  • Fully Conversant with DMRB, MCDHW and other design methods and standards;
  • Possess a working knowledge of AutoCAD.

Senior Pavement Engineer role responsibilities:

  • Management and overseeing the operation of a pavement engineering team that will work in conjunction with the team in Scotland.
  • Development of local workload streams from internal and external clients.
  • Planning, investigation & analysis of pavement investigation data from a range of road survey and investigation techniques to inform the development of design solutions.
  • You will ensure that the technical content of all work carried out is correct and carried out in accordance within agreed timescales and budgets.
  • Identify work-winning opportunities and be comfortable bidding for work.
  • You will provide technical guidance and training to junior staff and assist, where practicable, in the mentoring and development of staff.
