Role: Teacher

Pupils: ASD - Autism Spectrum Disorder

Years: three to nineteen years (KS1-KS5)

Length: Permanent - Part Time 2 days per week 

Location: PR3 - Preston

The Role

Vida Education are currently recruiting for a Teacher to work 2 days per week within a Specialist School. Successful candidates will be responsible for planning and delivering the curriculum within the framework of the ethos, aims and objectives of the school; to manage class staff team and have curricular responsibility.

The School

The school supports children and young people from the ages of 3 to 18 through a personalised KS1 to KS5 curriculum. The pupils within the school have Autism of varying levels. The school has built an diverse approach to pupils learning, taking into account current theories and methods of teaching. All pupils display significant difficulties within the ‘Triad of Impairment’ that is at the forefront of the autism. A child’s difficulties in language and communication, social relationships, and rigid patterns of behaviour/thought/interests form major barriers to learning, the Schools role is to help the pupils to come to terms with, and overcome, these difficulties. the School is regularly rated Good from Ofsted.

Duties

- To participate in regular ‘in house’ training and five training days per year as part of directed time. Opportunities for other training are available as considered appropriate by mutual agreement.

- To formulate, implement and regularly review and evaluate Individual Education Plans for your pupils according to their individual needs, across the curriculum.

- To complete the planning and recording documentation as set out in the school’s Assessment, Recording and Reporting procedures.

- To contribute to annual and internal reviews for your pupils.

- To direct a team of teaching assistants with whom you work; promoting an atmosphere conducive to organised and productive teamwork.

- To have a sound working knowledge of current legislation and the National Curriculum.

- To be responsible for supporting the development of your staff team

- To support the meeting of objectives within the School Development Plan.

- To take responsibility for your own professional development.

Requirements

- Hold QTS or equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification

- Have a good knowledge of the current National Curriculum

- Experience working with Pupils with learning difficulties and Autism.

We are an experienced team who specialise in placing secondary teachers, primary teachers, cover supervisors, teaching assistants and school admin and clerical staff into positions all across Cumbria and Lancashire.

As you are working with children, safeguarding and child welfare is paramount and an Enhanced DBS is required for the role, this can be discussed further upon application.
