THE JOB TITLE: Senior Quality Engineer
THE PRODUCT: Automotive Components (Pneumatics)
THE SALARY PACKAGE: c£50,000 Basic + Benefits
THE LOCATION: West Manchester
THE COMPANY:
As an organisation, this company both manufactures (and remanufactures) a range of automotive components that is sold to both OE and Aftermarket industries. As a business that is experiencing growth (even during these uncertain times) they are now looking for an individual to take responsibility for the quality engineering department.
THE ROLE OF A SENIOR QUALITY ENGINEER:
Working as the senior quality engineer within this business your role will be diverse and multi-faceted. Responsibilities will include:
- Understanding products at component level.
- Test and identify problems in the engineering process and rectify / make improvements
- Full quality control process implementation along with detailed guidelines on standards
- Grading suppliers based on their component quality (through your own test procedures)
- Spearhead engineering department, with direct management responsibility of the small engineering and technical team.
- Work with the warranty department and product development to advise through the trends & issues that arise.
- Ensure batch testing targets are met
- Implement test procedures and ensure their parity to deliver honest results
- Have a genuine involvement in the new ERP system that is being implemented
- Report findings and advice to directors and stake holders
- Get involved with queries that are directed to the engineering department
- Work with production and perform regular tests to identify potential malfunctions as early as possible
EXPERIENCE IDEALLY REQUIRED FOR A SENIOR QUALITY ENGINEER:
As an individual you will ideally be:
- Qualified in engineering
- Previous experience within a quality engineering environment
- Have a good working knowledge of mechanical and pneumatic concepts
- Comfortable managing a small team of engineers and technicians
- Able to convey engineering messages to stake holders and customers (who visit on site) when necessary
- Six Sigma / Lean processes would be an advantage
