Animal Health & Welfare Officer needed in Rochdale paying £13.21 per hr PAYE Ref: 3E4A1

This is working full time hours on a temporary basis

Responsibilities:

 To support senior officers in relation to Animal Health and Welfare matters, by

  • undertaking reactive and proactive site visits / inspections of farms, premises and vehicles (in transit or otherwise), and taking any necessary remedial action to ensure compliance with legislative standards relating to Animal Health and Welfare;
  • investigating complaints, and undertaking service requests, in relation to any to Animal Health and Welfare referred by a senior officer;
  • preparing reports on infringements of to Animal Health and Welfare (whether for prosecution or alternative method of disposal); and where necessary to appear as a witness at courts of law, public inquiries, tribunals and at other outside meetings as required;
  • issue animal movement licenses;
  • respond to reports of illegal importation of animals;
  • respond to notifications of zoonotic and notifiable animal diseases and assist the Service to deal with major outbreaks of such diseases;
  • inspect pet shops and other “animal associated” licensed premises for compliance with relevant licence conditions.
  • To advise local residents and businesses on all aspects of Animal Health and Welfare (including on a Home Authority / Primary Authority basis, as appropriate); and including the giving of talks, presentation of displays etc, in accordance with the section’s educational role; and to assist generally with the promotion of schemes affecting all aspects of Public Protection

 

Take appropriate enforcement action (informal warnings, service of notices and issuing fixed penalty notices etc) in accordance with council policies and procedures and support legal proceedings as
