Calling all production engineers

ATA are supporting a global packaging business who are looking to recruit 15 production maintainers to join their site in Leicestershire. The business who operate within 50 countries around the globe are a specialist within the manufacturing of creative packaging solutions and are a household name in many markets, including retail, consumer and food and beverage. The company truly are a giant of the industry and will produce 130 billion units per annum, giving them an output of around £6 billon worth of net sales.  

This site in Leicester have been in operation for the last 40 years employ over 240 staff and boast an impressive portfolio of manufactured goods. These goods are some of UKs most recognisable brands of which have become a staple part of British homes shopping lists. With a turnover eclipsing £170 million the business is going from strength to strength and are set to grow even further in 2021 due to investment of new production lines.

The client is keen to speak to production engineers who have experience within a maintenance.

About the role

As a production engineer, you will be tasked with ensuring daily production targets are hit. You will achieve this by ensuring the automated plant machinery is always kept running efficiently. You will have responsibility of all daily maintenance activities, which will include planned preventive maintenance, reactive breakdowns, remedial repair, and project work.  This is a mechanical biased role and will require you to keep breakdown time to a minimum, improve machine efficiency and work in conjunction with the groups LEAN and continuous improvement plans

Further responsibilities include:

  • Tool changes
  • Quality checks
  • Minimising wastage
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

About you

To be considered for the production engineer role, you should have the following:

  • Experience working to achieve production targets
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering
  • Ability to use mechanical hand tools and measuring equipment.
  • Experience completing maintenance on conveying or similar equipment.
  • Experience with machining would be advantageous, however not essential.
  • Experience working within a technical environment; engineering, motor mechanics, armed forces.
  • An eye for detail with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Due to the nature of the job, you should be physically fit and happy to work within a loud engineering environment.
