Principal Mechanical Engineer: Auxiliary & Support Systems | Barrow (Cumbria) | 6 Months | £50ph Umbrella or £39.51ph PAYE | Inside IR35

This role requires the successful candidate to obtain a Full Security Clearance (SC) prior to starting. You therefore must be a UK national, born in the UK with no dual or relinquished nationalities to apply.

BAE Systems at Barrow are currently undertaking the design and build of the new Royal Navy/ MOD Nuclear Submarine (Dreadnought). They require a Principal Mechanical engineer to work on auxiliary/ support systems onsite within one of the following teams: Domestics, Survival, Air and Gas, Atmosphere Control, Hydraulics, Cooling or Diesel Generator teams.

Engineers are required to develop and mature the system and equipment design across a range of systems, completing calculations, supporting equipment development, resolving design and build issues, preparing design justification documents and working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

The Individual

Must be degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.

Desirable: A Chartered Engineer or someone working towards a chartership.

As a Principal engineer a range of experience is anticipated ideally in system and equipment design, experience in naval ship systems would be an advantage but engineers with experience in nuclear / offshore / oil and gas would also be considered.
