Commercial Manager

Our client is developing a new reservoir in Hampshire, the first in the UK in almost 40 years. The reservoir will be built on the grassland site next to Havant Thicket, located between Rowlands Castle, Leigh Park and Staunton Country Park in Havant. In addition to providing new supplies for the water-stressed South East, it will also create a new green, leisure facility for local communities.

This is the largest project ever undertaken by our client and will cost around £130 Million; it is currently in the early stages with the main procurement package just being launched. At present, it is heavily supported by an outsourced team and our client is now commencing a process of building a permanent team of resources.

Critical to the success of the programme will be robust financial controls, budgeting, cost assessment and close liaison with the delivery team. There is also a need to manage regulatory reporting activities. As a result, our client will be looking for someone with:

• experience in project accounting (ideally within a large or complex programmes).
• ability to bridge between understanding the status of project delivery and providing clear and transparent financial reporting
• excellent team skills - working with other project specialists including procurement and programme delivery engineers
• experience of working in other large programmes - this is essential
• an engineering background with high levels of financial literacy and practical experience.
• good attention to detail, highly organised with excellent verbal and written communication skills

This will be a demanding role reporting direct to the Project Director. The role will also provide support when required to our clients' wider business including liaison with their Finance and Regulation teams.
