This is a very exciting and brand new role within an automotive electronics company that is currently expanding. Our client are looking for someone with proven experience within a similar role to join the successful team, automotive and preferably electronics experience preferred.
The role will be:
Responsible for managing 3rd party subcontract manufacturers in the production of high-quality safety products. Researching and sourcing new subcontract manufacturers from time-to-time, as required by the business need.
Subcontractors may supply finished goods or sub assemblies for final assembly, in which case work instructions, facilities and inspection will need to be set up accordingly.
Where manufacturing is required in Subsidiaries territories support and guidance will need to be provided in support of the above.
Key Responsibilities:
To lead the management of outsourced Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS), metalwork fabrication and cable assemblies from a range of suppliers both in the UK and world-wide.
To develop relationships with the suppliers ensuring they have the best possible terms & conditions of supply.
To manage the transfer of design and manufacturing information from the site to the manufacturers.
To manage internal assembly projects as required
To find, assess and lead the approval of new manufacturing partners.
To ensure all third-party manufacturers have signed up to relevant agreements.
Writing Requests for Quotation (RFQ) for new manufacturers and products.
Drive cost reduction programmes.
Place Purchase Orders on the suppliers.
Chase delivery dates as required and manage Engineering and Price change requests ensuring
adherence to internal policies and procedures.
Manage component obsolescence with manufacturing partners, ensuring supply continuity and integrity with the internal Design Authority.
Approve invoices, ensuring they match the agreed prices.
Write manufacturing documents, including assembly plans, rework
Some travel mainly UK based will be required.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical side (Electronic or Mechanical bias). Degree is desirable.
5 years or more ideally in Manufacturing, ideally Automotive. Metal Work, Fabrication and Cable Assembly.
ERP System
This is a mid-management position with no direct reports.
Commercial knowledge essential, ideally understanding of quotations.
Materials and Planning will work closely with this role.
