Mechanical Fitter (Grays)

The ideal candidate will be required to undertake planned and reactive maintenance of mechanical assemblies, identify faults and complete repairs on a number of sites.

Responsibilities

• Comply with our clients Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental management systems
• Dismantle, re-assemble mechanical assemblies
• Inspect equipment and identify faulty components
• Ensure quality, environmental and health and safety procedures are adhered to
• Carry out preventative maintenance work on plant and equipment
• Assist other disciplines when required
• Ensure safe use of hand tools, machinery and other equipment
• Ensure equipment is maintained to a high and safe standard
• Accurately record man-hours

Essential

• Modern Apprenticeship or City & Guilds Qualification in a Mechanical Engineering discipline or equivalent
• Good manual dexterity
• The ability to strip, service and repair a wide range of mechanical components including (but not exhaustive list), Pumps, Gear Boxes, Generators, Filters, Valves and Hydraulic Rams
• The ability to set-up and performs suitable tests to confirm the working conditions of the noted above, including the use of filtering and pressure test equipment
• Possess a mechanical understanding and knowledge of Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Hydrostatic systems, and the ability to understand and use schematics and maintenance drawings to analyse, assess, and find faults within these systems
• To be organised and have the ability to plan a sequence of events, which are required to remove and re install components within a working system
• Capable of self-checking work and to possess high personal standards with respect to Environment, Quality, Health & Safety, and cleanliness

• First Aid at Work - 1 or 3 day
