Job Description:

The role will require the candidate to manufacture and repair metal components and machine parts, assemble them to construct tools, machinery and machine components using safe recognised work practices, and using measuring equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Comply with our clients' Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental management systems
  • Be able to accurately measure and reproduce components from a customer sample
  • Be able to produce components from Engineering Drawings and adhere to specified tolerances
  • Identify and operate appropriate inspection equipment, machines and tooling for a given task
  • Ensure safe use of hand tools, machinery and other equipment
  • Ensure that equipment is kept in good, safe working order and all faults notified in a timely manner
  • Fill in sample check sheets as required
  • Keep a record of materials used and log all items on job sheets
  • Accurately record man-hours

Essential

  • Time served fully qualified machinist/turner to City & Guilds, MA or equivalent
  • Proven experience within a machine shop in a fabrication/engineering environment
  • Able to operate a range of conventional/manual machines, including, lathes, milling machines and borers
  • Able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of cutting different materials, tool selection and speeds and feeds
  • Able to demonstrate accurate use of hand-held measuring equipment, including, micrometres, verniers, bore gauges and plug gauges
  • Accurately interprets engineering drawings
  • Accurately reproduces components from engineering drawings and/or customer samples
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of the sequence of events required to machine a component from start to finish
  • Capable of self-checking work and to possess high personal standards with respect to Quality, Health & Safety, Environment and cleanliness
  • Having knowledge of appropriate use of equipment's and repair tools.
  • Have good mathematical ability
