Summary

A new opportunity has become available within our Culture & Behaviour (C&B) team. C&B is an expert Organisational Design and Development (OD&D) service within HR, responsible for enabling a positive, encouraging and expansive environment in HMRC. The team achieves this through delivering departmental wide OD&D culture-focused interventions and through leading on the delivery of key elements of HMRC’s culture change programme. 

The post is full time, however applicants who wish to work alternative working patterns are welcome to apply. The preferred working pattern may or may not be available, agreement will be subject to business need, and any request to work an alternative working pattern should be made prior to your acceptance of the provisional offer
Job description
As a member of the C&B team, you'll support our people to achieve their best, working within the business to drive culture change and build a broader environment that engages and motivates our people, ultimately helping HMRC to create a more inclusive environment for all and deliver against its strategic objectives.

You'll be a crucial link between C&B and the business, providing a specialist, insight-led organisational development and design service to help put our values and beliefs at the forefront of the way HMRC leads its people.

Responsibilities Be accountable for consistently delivering work that directly meets the needs of our organisation, identifying how behavioural thinking can be used to improve outcomes by:

Develop and manage quality relationships with key business and delivery partners, demonstrating strong interpersonal and influencing skills, quickly establishing respectful and positive relationships with a range of people including at senior levels

Understand the different values and teams within HMRC to help develop strategies and approaches that focus on improving the employee experience

Leading on iterative work to realise those improvements

Working effectively with your internal customer to proactively, responsively manage engagement with partners at all levels including senior levels

Leading and working through others and understanding, leading and communicating with stakeholders and customers

Be an advocate for change, embracing a positive inspirational approach to leading and supporting others through change

Confidently prioritise work to deliver at pace, taking ownership and accountability

Essential Criteria:

Understand and work with the concepts of organisational beliefs, employee engagement and performance management

Have excellent verbal and written communications skills and competence in negotiating with and effectively influencing senior colleagues

Be resilient, flexible, versatile and able to work confidently with ambiguity

Have excellent problem-solving skills, demonstrating an ability to analyse information and develop innovative solutions that will enable changes in organisational philosophies.

Be self-aware and self-motivated, demonstrating confidence in using your initiative to make things happen

Have project management skills and the confidence to steer projects through

Have proven facilitation and mentor skills, including the ability to design events and interventions that enable culture change 

Desirable Criteria:

Understanding of HMRC and its business areas; or a similarly large, complex organisation.

Experience of working in a business change environment as part of a cultural transformation programme with knowledge and experience of Organisational Design and Development

Experience of applying behavioural thinking
