Lamonby Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor on behalf of our client based in the Derby area. They are a specialist construction company who provide design, estimating, surveying and planning services to their customers across the UK.
Typical projects include working within the industrial, agricultural and waste/ recycling industries, providing structural steel frames, cladding and fitout work to projects.
The successful Quantity Surveyor will ideally come from a main-contractor background in providing general construction services such as foundations, refurbishments, flooring, drainage, cladding and electrics and be competent and adaptable in different areas of construction.
Quantity Surveyor Role
Submission and agreement of monthly valuations.
Review and agreement of contract and warranty agreements.
Submission and negotiation of final account.
Physical measurement of works where necessary.
Record and recover the cost and programme implications of changes within the project, including preparation of add/omit measures, re-measurement, quoted variations and compensation events.
Monitoring and reporting cost and project risk.
Cash flow forecasting.
Notices and instructions.
Preparing and analysing claims for loss and expense / extensions of time.
Issue of payment notices to subcontractors.
Role Requirements and Qualifications
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills are key
Experience working with Steel structures (desirable)
Considering Graduate level or Senior QS level
Ability to develop long term relationships with all team members and client
Educated to Degree level, or have necessary experience
Holder of a Full UK Drivers Licence
Confident IT skills, proficient in the use of MS Office in particular Excel
Strong experience of delivering technically complex projects in the Sectors highlighted above from inception to completion
Experience of working in another comparable consultancy environment, or within a client organisation
