What's a Recruitment Director got to do to find a good Recruiter to work for an independent agency? 

  1. Pay a good salary? Sure, what sort of salary do you want? 
  2. Offer good commission? 35% above threshold sound ok? 
  3. Good progression? Absolutely, the route to progression is clear and more importantly, very achievable. 
  4. Allow creative freedom? We're in the people game, your personality needs to come through on LinkedIn, Adverts and your approach to clients and candidates
  5. Ridiculous market splits? Absolutely NOT!! If you place the candidate, the fee is yours. None of this donating half your fees because the candidate is in another post code

 

The period of growth that we're in, is something we're very excited about. What we now need is the right experience and skills to support is in getting there. Be under no illusions though, we're an independent agency...We don't have the brand recognition that the big boys do. When you pick up the phone, and say

"It's [Insert name] from Michael Sharma Group"

a lot of clients will say

"sorry who?!?" 

What we need, is a Consultant who is resilient, motivated and unashamedly a sales person. Ultimately, whether we like to admit it or not, that is exactly what recruitment is, sales! If that word puts you off, then unfortunately, we're not the business nor the culture for you. Not because we have this "Wolf of Wall Street" type set up, because we absolutely are not that. We're not looking to take our top billers to Marbella, nor are we going to have Thirsty Thursdays or Martini Mondays...We want to pay you the commission you have earnt, so you can spend your commission how you want to.
