Enterprise Integration Services (EIS) are at the heart of the HMRC Chief Digital Information Officer (CDIO) group. We manage HMRC’s core integration/middleware services, dealing with over a billion transactions every year and connecting hundreds of HMRC services.

EIS provide platforms for delivering Application Programming Interface (API) access to HMRC systems. We also provide artefacts and support for API consumers (software developers and other Government Departments) to build and manage authorised software that seamlessly integrates with HMRC digital services.

We use modern open-source products and work in an Agile way to deliver flexible, cost effective integration solutions.
Job description
The Performance Analyst profession in HMRC plays a key role in supporting the development and implementation of the department's Digital Strategy.

Performance Analysts work closely with other professions, such as User Research, Design, Product and Development, Business Analysis, Digital Service Management, etc. using analytics to understand and improve service performance throughout the lifecycle. Your analytical perspective is key to Agile, user-centred design and helps ensure services meet analytical best practice and cross-government standards.

As a Senior Performance Analyst, you will work on large, complex or high-profile services, often undertaking complex analysis. You will be a passionate ambassador for analytics and pro-actively inform and complement insights, working with others to identify analytical requirements, relevant bespoke metrics (including key performance indicators), etc.

You will use your expertise to provide robust, quality-assured analytics and interpret results to create compelling evidence-based and actionable data stories that drive decisions and inform the iterative design of the service. You will establish best practice around data visualization, quality assurance, communicating analysis and insight, etc. in line with and at levels described in the Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) skills framework for Performance Analysts.

Essential Criteria:

DDaT sets out the technical skills needed by a Senior Performance Analyst, in particular:

• Undertaking analysis and providing insight [lead skill];
• Performance measurement;
• Communicating analysis and insight; and
• Technical understanding (performance analyst).
 
We are looking for someone with experience of using Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager.

Desirable Criteria:

• Splunk coding skills;
• Using Excel and Google Sheets to manipulate data, and
• Using Data Studio and Power BI to visualize and share outputs.
