Job Description:

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Strategy, Policy and Performance Officer to work on a 35 hour per week contracr role to start on the 04-10-17 until the 09-03-18 with a likely extension to contract

Hours: 9:00 am to 5:00 PM

 

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

·         Provide strategic support for continuous improvement in for the client and  for the client through the development and implementation of local and national policies, key initiatives and strategic planning and review.

 

·         Drive through the delivery of the client and the client's key objectives for service improvement and value for money, implementing the Council’s Performance Management and Accountability Framework and leading business improvement activity.

 

·         To lead support for the development  of strategies, policies and plans at a service, directorate and corporate level to achieve business  objectives and promote the principles of the client (tackling inequality, strengthening cohesion and building community leadership).

 

·         Develop strong and effective relationships with senior managers, the Mayor, councillors, partners (from the public, private and third sectors) and communities in order to communicate, negotiate on and influence the development of One Tower Hamlets and the role of the directorate in delivering it.

 

Knowledge

  1. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the functions of local government

 

  1. Knowledge of the key issues facing local government

 

  1. Understanding of how these impact locally and have shaped the concept of One Tower Hamlets

 

Knowledge of performance and project management tools, techniques and systems

 

 

Qualifications & Experience

 

  1. Successful track record of managing and delivering projects, including teams of staff, to deliver objectives

 

  1. Experience of policy and/or performance related project work in a public sector or similar organisation

 

  1. Experience of working closely with and advising senior managers and members

 

  1. Experience of one or more SPP functions, including:- performance monitoring, performance improvement, strategy and planning, external inspection, partnership working and equalities

 

Experience of working in partnership with diverse agencies and groups, in multi-disciplinary projects to deliver objective.
