Working as part of the Product Development team, this role will apply Test & Validation engineering skills to lead the design and development of commercial products for use in applications ranging from small portable power devices to automotive applications to industrial power systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning and delivery of test & validation activities to meet project objectives and milestones. This will include conducting validation tests to meet all legal, functional, customer and business requirements of the product, and creating test methods to suit product requirements, functionality and safety.

The individual will lead, support and perform all assigned product validation activities, including endurance, environmental, robustness and certification testing and will generate, analyse, report and approve results from testing, using statistical tools to define the reliability, confidence and predicted warranty of products.

A key part of the role will be to support & participate in failure root cause analysis and product quality life-cycle investigations.

About you

You will hold a BEng, BSc (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, or possess a relevant non-degree level qualification alongside suitable industrial experience.

You will be able to demonstrate experience of product validation testing, test reporting and data analysis, as well as experience in validation and experimental methods in a commercial business environment. Knowledge of the following validation principles is also essential; reliability growth, accelerated life testing and statistical analysis.

You will have proven capability and be able to demonstrate experience of:

• Product verification & validation testing, test reporting and data analysis
• Delivering work packages on time and to commercial and technical requirements
• Working within quality systems and to safe working practices
• Troubleshooting and rectifying faults to test methodology and product performance.
• Problem solving and experimental methods (for example 8D, 6 Sigma, DMAIC, etc) in a product development environment.

Knowledge of key Validation principles such as reliability growth, accelerated life testing and statistical analysis is also extremely beneficial.

It is key to us that you have a commercial mindset and the ability to work with a flexible and solutions focused approach, in an agile and fast paced environment. You must also be able to work collaboratively with a cross-functional team alongside both technical and non-technical colleagues. As such, excellent communication skills are vital.
