Data Analyst permanent opportunity working within the Energy Sector - based in Edinburgh with remote working. 50k salary + benefits

As Data Analyst, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks that support the renewables business development, market analysis and forecasting operations. You will contribute to decision analysis for renewable electric resource planning, storage and dispatch optimization and identification of new market opportunities.

You will be working with skilled energy engineering and business experts. With your energy market knowledge you will support machine learning and systems control engineers in implementation of our forecasting and dispatch algorithms. Responsibilities

? Data collection, analysis and reporting of energy data: descriptive analysis, simulations, forecasting, optimization (across all domains: generation, load, pricing)

? Support business development and formulate recommendations for model development

? Keeping up-to-date with developments in the energy markets, technological innovation in the renewables, storage and demand side management space

? Role will require a willingness to perform energy market research, analysis of market structure, rules and mechanisms

? Fostering a culture of continuous learning, open sharing of ideas and upholding the scientific and business integrity of our projects

Required skill-set:

? Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in energy systems, economics, engineering or other quantitative disciplines

? Expertise across the technical, economic and policy aspects of energy with initial focus on the US and Australian markets

? Strong Excel, Python, and, SQL skills

? Big advantage, if experience with market modelling tools e.g. Plexos or similar

? Advantage, if some experience with data warehouses, such as Snowflake

? Advantage, if some experience deploying Python scripts to serverless environments, such as AWS Lambdas

? Interest in learning Matlab and interactive data dashboard tools (Tableau, Qlik, etc.)
