Maintenance Operative


Job Description:

You will be involved in the day to day running of maintenance, compliance and manual duties at the RNLI.

Key Responsibilities:
Proactively and reactively respond to the wide range of tasks as and when required,including minor plumbing and electrical tasks, fabric maintenance, adjustments (including the Building Management System) and installation of various systems/plants.
Log, manage and provide a first response to all Helpdesk requests, including customer interaction
Proactively and reactively carry out compliance and safety tasks in line with RNLI policies & Health & Safety Executive Regulations. This includes, but is not exclusive to, control of legionella, fire safety, housekeeping, hand tools, SSC pool plant, air conditioning (including changing air filters), emergency light testing, portable appliance testing
Support delivery of RNLI Health & Safety and Facilities Management policy and standards. Work safely, ensuring the safety and well-being of yourself, colleagues, customers, contractors and visitors; reporting, recording and where possible, resolving any health and safety issues
Assist the Facilities Supervisor in the provision of other services to all departments, including full office moves, re-arranging office furniture and equipment following Helpdesk requests and health and safety assessments. This will include lifting and carrying office equipment and furniture
Work with third party contractors/suppliers on minor projects
Make local deliveries and pick-ups to local suppliers and contractors when required
Procure and maintain stock control systems.
Capable of meeting and maintaining Manual Handling required for the role
Be part of the site emergency response team, responding to any emergency situation as required
Be prepared to work out of normal working hours (which are 07:00 - 17:00), during evenings and weekends, on an infrequent basis, in order to support business requests (i.e. desk moves)

Qualifications required:
A full driving licence.
Qualification in Legionella L8
Prefabricated Access Suppliers' and Manufacturers' Association (PASMA) International Powered Access Federation (IPAF)
Desirable -City and Guilds qualification or other formal qualification in relevant trade/skill (e.g. electrician, plumbing etc) and/or Pool Plant Operator's Qualification

Contract length - 3 months

Hours - 40 a week

Rate of pay - £9.61/h - £11.53/h PAYE Plus Holiday accrual (possibly negotiable dependant on experience)
