Job Description:

Our client is looking for an experienced Housing Reablement Officer-DBS to work on a 36 hour per week contract to start on the 22-10-17 until the 22-01-18 with a likely extension.

Hours: 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday.

Must have experience of working with single vulnerable customers in housing need who may have complex needs. Also experience of taking part VII homeless applications and making decisions on cases. DBS required.


Purpose of the job


  • To provide an effective, professional service on behalf of the Client including offering a full range of advice support and assistance to single customers who may have support needs to prevent or relieve homelessness.


  • To provide full needs and risk assessments for vulnerable clients ensuring appropriate housing solutions to meet identifiable needs are met


  • To provide an holistic service in partnership with customers, statutory organisation, advocates and third sector providers to arrive at a sustainable housing solution for customers with complex and multiple needs for example mental health combined with drug and or alcohol addiction.


  •  To ensure vulnerable customers are supported with their housing and address their support needs


  • To complete assessments and investigations of homeless approaches and applications in line with the Councils’ statutory duties under Housing Act 1996 Part 7 and relevant case law.


  • To comply with current relevant legislation, and any central government or the client's policies, procedures and performance measures.


  • To meet performance targets and standards


  • Work in partnership with central Government to provide data and outcomes based information to demonstrate the client’s work to prevent and relieve homelessness for single customers.


  • This is a specialist role that will be at the forefront of the prevention of homelessness, and at the cutting edge following the introduction of the Homelessness Act 2017.



Knowledge, including educational qualifications:


·         Knowledge and understanding of the complex issues contributing to homelessness and the impact on the lives.


·         The law governing homelessness and an understanding  of current issues in housing


·         The range of available accommodation options and specialist services available to single homeless people


·         Benefits and support available to people being rehoused


·         Knowledge of relevant case law and Codes of Guidance
