A reputable utilities organisation based in Worthing is requiring a Programme Manager to join a Network Digitasation Programme.

We are looking for a strong programme manager, with experience in utilities, if possible, ideally with Operational Technology (OT) and sensor deployment experience. It will be a high profile, complex programme so stakeholder management will be key.

We are likely to use 3rd parties to deploy the sensors in geographically dispersed locations, so experience of planning, monitoring, escalation and dependency management will also be key. There will be at least 2 project work streams to be managed within the programme.

The Programme Manager is responsible for planning and managing projects and programmes of medium to significant complexity, including estimating, planning, execution, scheduling, and cost/budget development and tracking.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Directs and manages projects from beginning to end. Defines project scope, goals and deliverables that support business and IT goals, in collaboration with business owners, product owners, and other stakeholders.
  • Works with Business Owner/Sponsor and Solution Leader and others as needed, to create a project charter, including the definition of completion criteria.
  • Develops labour estimates, cost estimates, schedules, milestones, deliverables, and overall plans for projects. Determines the human resources - roles and skills - required to achieve project goals.
  • Works with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel to staff the project. Determines the need for additional staff and/or consultants and recruits/hires if necessary during the project.
  • Provides leadership in forming the appropriate project team in order to meet the project's objectives.
  • Organises project work into manageable groups (project phases and work breakdown) and determines an effective approach for completing the work.
  • Ensures that appropriate timing, resources, and sequencing of the work efforts are aligned to produce the desired results within the project schedule.
  • Ensures that project and product interdependencies within a programme of multiple projects (and across other business lines and programs) are considered and are tracked as projects are planned and executed.
  • Conducts comprehensive project status reviews of a program of related projects and system and project interdependencies.
  • Communicates appropriate outcomes with Solution Leaders, Project Management, and Business Owners to provide timely and accurate information and status updates, along with issue and risk management within individual projects and across a program.
  • Assigns project work according to the plan and schedule. Monitors project activities and reports on status.
  • Reviews quality of work and manages integration of team members' work.
  • Proactively identifies risks and develops contingency plans, identifies issues and manages their timely resolution.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • PMP or Prince Certified
  • Association for Project Management (APM), Project Management Institute (PMI) or Chartered Management Institute (CMI) certified
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Average 5+ years prior experience in Senior Project management / Programme Management
  • Managing large, complex IT / Systems Integration projects/programmes, including vendor/partner management
  • Commercial and contract experience
  • Demonstrable experience in managing IT projects
  • Managing programme deliveries
  • Experience in leading a programme management teams of 10+ staff

Contract is for an initial 12 months paying £750 per day outside IR35. Role to be fully remote work currently but some travel to Worthing may be required once possible so must be willing to travel and be on site.
