Job Description

 

 

 

The Role

 

 

 

We are looking for people with a passion for project delivery. You may already be working in a project environment as part of a project team who are responsible for large to medium complexity projects or you may be looking to start your project management career. We are offering a fantastic chance to initiate your career in HMRC, working on projects that will transform how we work.

 

 

 

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for delivery of projects or work strands within complex projects or programmes. You may also help develop and initiate new projects by conducting pre-discovery to determine feasibility.

 

 

 

You will successfully support and deliver specified elements of the Project, on budget, to specification and aligned with project governance, ensuring the processes and experience are in line with departmental and ministerial requirements.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

 

 

 

Your typical responsibilities are:

 

 

 

  • Support the project/programme to deliver the required outcomes
  • Build and apply knowledge of your programmes/projects, and relevant subject matter;
  • Monitor and manage progress of delivery against the project or programme plan, raising issues through agreed governance for any changes to scope, benefit or cost;
  • Manage risks, issues and dependencies, raising where needed;
  • Manage a diverse range of partners, taking account of their levels of influence and interests, ensuring all partners have been engaged in the development and delivery of initiatives;
  • Work with other partners to ensure resources are in place for subsequent stages;
  • Manage Change Framework processes, developing or coordinating the development of governance documents as defined in the HMRC Change guidance;
  • Appropriate use of project resources including engagement of Subject Matter Experts, Policy and IT Professionals in order to make effective and timely decisions;
  • Identifying, monitoring and managing project risks, issues and dependencies effectively;
  • Supporting/contributing to the development of the business cases that justify projects in terms of benefits, costs and risks.
  • Identifying, defining, evaluating, planning, tracking and realising the business benefits of programmes/projects;
  • Establishing and maintaining governance arrangements for the delivery of projects, defining clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities that align with organisation practice;
  • Developing products and processes to enable delivery of required processes, solution and/or experience.
  • Supporting the design and development of appropriate implementation products to ensure success of change within the business.
  • Providing visible leadership and supportive line management across the strand and programme, to all grades and to partners engaged in own area of responsibility.

 

 

 

Essential Criteria:

 

 

 

  • Experience of delivering small to medium scale projects.
  • Experience of collaborating with multiple partners, influencing decision-making and challenging where appropriate.
  • The ability to work at pace and to prioritise workloads to achieve targets.
  • An understanding of Agile and Waterfall methodologies and how to put them into practice.

  • Recognised project delivery qualifications - PRINCE2 Foundation, Agile Project Management Foundation, PRINCE2 Practitioner, Agile Project Management Practitioner, APM Project Fundamentals, APM Project Management Qualification
