Full time hours on a temporary basis.

This is a temporary position for approximately 12 months. 

The role is based in Somerset/Dorset so applicants need to ideally live in these counties.

As a Surveyor you’ll predominantly be responsible for major works, cyclical programmes & planned maintenance delivery within the Somerset & Dorset Regions. Working as the client/contract administrator, you must be able to demonstrate strong contract management skills which will involve working to budgetary targets with strict deadlines and being able to report affectively to your manager/others within Aster. 

You may also be asked to help the team undertake other surveys for repairs and maintenance such as minor works, refurbishment work, mutual exchanges, Aids & adaptations, and voids surveying. 

Our customers will be a high focus for you, so you’ll ensure that the highest possible quality is provided through our services, meeting the requirements of best value, performance standards and best practice, demonstrating excellent communication skills at all levels.

You’ll be working with our Principal Surveyor mainly in the region of Somerset with the occasional cross area working within Dorset, Devon & Cornwall.  Your main focus with the most amount of dedicated time will be on planned maintenance projects and contract management with various external contractors using NEC contracts. However, on occasions you may be undertaking domestic and commercial building surveys and providing advice on matters such as construction defects, disrepair and dilapidations.


About you


You will have a relevant technical (HNC or higher) qualification in Building, Surveying, Planning or a similar technical field.  You’ll have a strong working knowledge of project management techniques and be comfortable supervising multi-trade contracts from initial offer to closure.


A strength will be your time management and you’ll be experienced in working to deadlines, whilst maintaining performance and budget targets.


You’ll be used to maintain your knowledge of current methods, standards and initiatives relating to repair and refurbishment of residential dwellings.
