Job Description:

As a member of the site team, you will be responsible for the on-site installation and testing of our clients projects. The day-to-day activities of this role will involve travelling to a client's site and carrying out the electrical installation and testing work required for that particular project. The requirements of each project will be explained by the Electrical Supervisor / Site Manager and the electrical fitter will then carry out the work on site including completing the associated paperwork where required.

The electrical installation engineer will be part of the larger site team managed by the Operations Manager and will be partnered with at least one other site worker at all times.

Responsibilities

  • The ability to specify job requirements and the parts / equipment / materials needed
  • Work on client sites as well as in Company workshop as required
  • Undertake various electrical installations and refurbishment projects including: cabling; earthing arrangements; containment; control systems; fault finding
  • Inspection and testing of electrical systems to troubleshoot problems and
  • verify installations
  • Complete required paperwork for each project to demonstrate installation and testing work has been carried out successfully accurately and timely
  • Utilise design drawings, wiring diagrams and manufacturer's installation manuals to complete assigned projects
  • Survey electrical systems and plans
  • Compliance with BS7671 requirements and client specific standards
  • To be accountable to yourself and your co-workers
  • Continued training and development and training of electrical improvers whilst on the job
  • Ensure compliance with our clients policies, procedures and work instructions including commitment achieving their OH&S, environmental and quality objectives and using correct Personal Protective Equipment at all times
  • Observe and comply with all good working practices
  • Keep working areas neat and tidy
  • Carry out any other reasonable request from the management team

Qualifications

The main skills required for this role are experience and dedication with a positive attitude. Our client is looking for a candidate with at least 2 years experience of electrical installation, ideally in the UK water sector. Good communication, team working and problem solving skills are essential for this role, as well as the ability to understand and implement electrical drawings to enable the successful electrical installation.

  • 2+ years' related experience post qualification in electrical installation and testing, preferably in the UK water sector
  • Fully qualified electrician (NVQ level 3 or equivalent)
  • 18th Edition preferable
  • 2391 Test and Inspection preferable
  • Control and automation experience advantageous
  • Able to work well in a team and take instruction from supervisors
  • Excellent health and safety knowledge and application
  • Well organised with ability to multi task
  • Positive "can do" attitude with flexible approach to work
  • Excellent personal presentation
  • Driving licence (full, clean)
  • CSCS / ECS card preferable
  • Confined spaces training preferable
