Due to our continued success and planned growth, we have a vacancy for a CNC Lathe Setter / Operator at our manufacturing facility in Chichester. Working on new advanced Citizen automatic lathes you will be responsible for programming, setting and running the machines to close tolerances at high levels of efficiency, as well as using your experience on other types of machinery as the need arises There are good long-term prospects for dedicated, conscientious staff in a friendly working environment as we continue to expand our manufacturing business.

Job Description:

• Programme, set up and operate Citizen sliding head lathes
• QC Checking
• Liaise with Production Manager to identify and implement process improvements
• Provide coverage for other team members in the event of sickness / holidays etc.
• Record production, raw materials usage and machine running time
• Undertake other tasks as required

Essential requirements:

• Time served apprenticeship with a minimum of 5 years' experience setting CNC sliding head lathes
• Good understanding of quality control requirements and procedures
• Experienced in the use of measuring equipment such as Micrometers, Vernier callipers, height gauge and optical projector (shadowgraph)
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Competent in the use of MS Excel and MS word
• Prepared to work shifts (between 0600 and 2000)
• Prepared to provide out of hours cover
• Positive attitude towards quality and deadlines
• The ability to use your own initiative and to produce work to the highest standards

Nice to have, but training will be provided if necessary:

• CNC Milling experience (Training can be given)
• Manual machining experience (Lathe and Drilling/Milling machines)
• Experience in supervising and training semi-skilled and unskilled persons
• Maintenance of machinery and equipment
• Fork- lift and combi-lift certificate
• Experience of programming
