Our client is a well-established building services organisation who has a very successful mechanical division.

They have a proven track record of delivering successful mechanical solutions and install solutions to our commercial and domestic clients, offering highly qualified engineers and technicians to provide expertise and experience across the full range of disciplines including local authorities, social landlords, NHS trusts and private sector.

They are now in need of an experienced HR Advisor based at their Hertfordshire HertfordshreHead Office.

The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of recruitment practices, and therefore allow them to collaborate with all departments to ensure continuity and growth across administrative duties and general HR. To support the HR Manager with employee relations across the company and promoting and embedding policies and best practice.

Job duties include:

  • Support HR Manager with all employee relations matters including, absence management meetings, capability, TUPE, flexible working, grievance and disciplinary matters, consultations, restructures etc.
  • Produce reports as required from HRIS
  • Monitor probationary reviews
  • Oversee all company Apprentices and pre-apprentices, be first port of call for the apprentice and college/training provider. Attend college reviews and act as support for the apprentice throughout their course.
  • Send out vacancy alerts to Oakray’s clients
  • To be responsible for proactive recruitment within the company from start to finish (include advertising, liaising with agencies, sifting with hiring managers, setting up and attending interviews, offer letters, draft contracts, logging new starters onto internal databases and arrange inductions)
  • Oversee all pre-employment checks for candidates
  • Review and update Job descriptions
  • Manage the training matrix for all staff
  • Maintain training costs spreadsheet
  • Establish and maintain relationship with external training suppliers
  • Liaise with Health and Safety Consultant on Tool box talks
  • Manage Leavers process and remove employees from all internal platforms
  • Any other duties as reasonably required

The successful candidate will:

  • Previous experience in a HR advisory or generalist role
  • Experience of dealing with in house recruitment and best practices
  • Preferably worked in construction/ engineering but not essential
  • An understanding of best practice and current regulations
  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite
  • Experience of TUPE desired but not essential
