Job Description:

Hello Education are working with a fantastic organisation in Yorkshire, that provides homeless young people aged 16-25 with accommodation, health support and life skills in order to get them back into education, training and employment. The provide accredited learning in life skills, Maths, English, employability, and industry traineeships.

The company are seeking an instructor/trainer who has the experience and passion for developing and delivering learning to young people who have encountered significant life challenges and face barriers to learning. They are looking for a trainer who understands and recognises their needs, can develop engaging resources, and will stretch and challenge young people to be the very best version of themselves. A flexible and adaptable approach is essential, as is the ability to “think outside of the box” as many of the learners have had negative learning experience.

We are looking for a trainer who is able to:

  • Engage and inspire young people to be the best they can be.
  • Recognise their individual needs, such as social, emotional, mental health and disabilities which in many cases were not diagnosed at school.
  • Design and develop learning materials that are relevant, capture interest and meet individual learning styles.
  • Help them to get a good Ofsted rating, so young people can all receive the learning and support they deserve to enable them to live independently, continue learning or find a job.

Responsibilities

  • Teach either individuals or small groups of learners within accommodation services or in the Training Centre and Learning Hub
  • Create lesson plans, and resources that are innovative to meet awarding body specifications.
  • Mark and assess work to create learner portfolios. (NOCN portfolios)
  • Assess learners work using a variety of assessment methods (observations, discussions, video)
  • Carry out initial assessment and diagnostics using BKSB computer and written based.
  • Work with the Training Manager to ensure that the requirements of the Equality Act (2010) are met in terms of reasonable adjustments and risk management.
  • Work closely a range of internal teams; Support & Housing Key Workers, Jobs & Education Team, Health Team, PIE, and compliance
  • Organise and support the implementation and delivery of enrichment activities to increase learner’s awareness of their surroundings/communities/external networks professional and social.
  • Carry out multiple administrative tasks, including the entire learner journey, from enrolment, in-learning through to completion and exiting learners from programmes.
  • Be a team player and contribute to the local and broader team objectives.
  • Support the continuous development of Centrepoint Works who are on a continuous journey to be outstanding.
  • Keep yourself updated on new ways of learning, awarding body updates British Values, Prevent and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.
  • Help to shape the learning offer to young people so it can thrive and continuously improve.

The role will involve working across two sites in Barnsley and Bradford, so a driving licence and willingness to travel is essential.

To be successful in this role, you must have either a Secondary or Post 16 teaching qualification, and you must have a DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
