Digital & Channels Communications Advisor

Are you a digital-native communicator with a passion for all the different on-line and off-line channels that make up the communications mix?

Would you like to play a key role in helping the Maritime Services communications team at BAE Systems become leaders in modern defence communications?

We're looking for a communicator who thinks 'digital-first' but really understands what channels to best use with different audiences, internally and externally.

Working as part of the communications team you will lead our thinking around channels on-line and off and proactively ensure the rest of the team is up to speed. You will also have influence on the wider Maritime Sector team's performance.

This role is initially a 12 month placement with the possibility of it becoming an enduring role.

Your main responsibilities as Digital & Channels Communications Advisor will involve:

Advising the Communications team on appropriate and new channels to best leverage every communications activity

Working with individual Communications Advisors to advise on their channels approach to their portfolios

Horizon scanning for new channel technologies

Invigorating the businesses' and sectors' manual worker communications channels with specific focus on public space communications technologies

Helping deliver employee communications and external communications activities

Managing of all digital channels including .com, intranet, Employee App and social media

Supporting production of excellent content including, but not exclusively, film, photography and digital content

Developing relationships with key stakeholders with the aim to develop awareness of channels

Work closely with the Senior Communications Manager and other Communications Advisors to develop and deliver the internal and external communications agenda for Maritime Services

Responsibility to work with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate business and change objectives

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Digital PR and communications expertise

Communications channels expertise

Communication campaign and planning experience

Strong customer/client support experience within communications

Good writing for digital skills

Experience of liaising with digital journalists

Desirable:

Internal AND External communications experience preferred

Qualifications:

Graduate with a professional qualification with suitable experience in a communications related position or HND / A Level education

You will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and will be able to effectively present ideas and new ways of working to key stakeholders across the business

Location: Portsmouth Naval Base
