Business Development Manager – Merchants

St Ives, Huntingdon, Peterborough, Kettering, March, St Neots, Cambridge

£28,000- £35,000 DOE


The client is a well-respected independent merchant that has huge growth plans over the next few years. With this expansion in mind, they have just taken on a new group sales manager who is responsible for turning a good business into a great business. This company has a different ethos to the nationals and focuses on doing right by the customer and pricing fairly. So, if you are a current Sales Development Manager, or an Assistant Branch Manager or a Branch Manager that is looking for a sales based role without the politics please read on.


Unlike other merchants you will not be wrapped up in metrics and KPIs or complicated discount structures, your focus will be to build relationships with your customer base and go the extra mile to fulfil all their needs. If they need products that day? no problem one of the many companies owned vehicles will deliver it at no extra cost.

The new Group Sales Manager has experience with both nationals and independent’s and will support you to stand out in the local market. You will be given autonomy to win business at the right margins without a complicated sign off process.

This role is field based in the local area to the branch

  • Experience of working in a builder’s merchant
  • You will be a hunter mentality and enjoy chasing the business
