Job Description:

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Haematologist (up to 10 PAs) to join an NHS Provider in the East Lancashire area. Part-time will be considered, please enquire.

 

This is a 1 year initial Contract, with the option to convert to Permanent/Substantive for the successful candidate.

  • All Consultants are required to attend the monthly departmental and Directorate Meetings and share in administrative duties allocated by mutual agreement within the Directorate.
  • Out of hours rota would be shared equally amongst the Consultant Haematologist team
  • An annual job plan is agreed with the Clinical Director

Consultant Haematologist Requirements:

  • Must hold FRCPath or show evidence of equivalent training
  • Experience in all aspects of clinical and laboratory haematology would be desirable
  • Given the rising number of haematology cancers, an interest in haemato-oncology would be welcomed
  • The successful applicant will be expected to work with management and clinical colleagues to further develop the haematology service and achieve the Trust’s key objectives
  • Possess full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or eligible for registration within six months of interview)
  • UK trained professionals must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by the date of interview.
  • Non-UK trained professionals will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
  • The post holder will be expected to keep up to date with developments within medical education and their own specialty by attending appropriate conferences and study courses
  • Preferably living within 10 miles or 30 minutes travel by car of the relevant Trust Hospital base and able to travel to meet the requirements of the post
  • Understanding of current NHS management systems including clinical governance and risk management
  • All Consultants are required to attend the monthly departmental and Directorate Meetings and share in administrative duties allocated by mutual agreement within the Directorate.
