Job Description:

I am working with a growing manufacturing company in Stockport who are looking recruit a Buyer on a permanent basis.

My client have experienced incredible growth over the last 5 years and as such there are opportunities to progress within the company for the right person

The day to day activities include: -

  • To work as part of the purchasing team ensuring the direct materials are sourced from the correct suppliers globally.
  • Spend responsibility circa £10 - £15M
  • To ensure the materials are delivered on time and to right the quality standards, to liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the quality is sound. 
  • To ensure that the MRP system is kept up to date with the relevant information lead times, price points etc.
  • To look for new strategic suppliers – delivering on improved service, quality and better prices.
  • To meet and audit new suppliers.
  • Ensure orders are placed to the right quantity levels based on stock.
  • Resolve supplier performance issues

This is the perfect opportunity to get involved in an operational role which involves strategic elements too.

Candidates must have the following experience: -

  • Ideally from a mechanical engineering / Manufacturing background.
  • Proven cost savings & sourcing new suppliers.
  • Ideally have experience in purchasing products/ components from Europe / Far East / America’s
  • Ideally degree educated / MCIP’s qualified
  • Ideally to have purchased raw materials such as fabrication, castings, metal housing units.
  • Ideally to have worked in a SME environment or within a growing company where processes may not already be established or implemented
  • To have excellent communication skills and is able to communicate effectively internally and externally
  • To be creative and is able to identify process improvement and implement new procedures
  • Ideally to have helped mentor / lead a team
  • Able to perform in a fast paced every changing environment.


My client is offering a competitive salary on £25,000 - £32,000 + 31 days holiday including bank holidays + opportunity to progress.
