Project Manager (Sales focused) - Water / Wastewater Industry - West Midlands / Home based -  to cover Welsh Water,  Wessex Water and Severn Trent - £40-45k + Bonus + Company Car or Car Allowance


Company and Role

 I am currently representing a huge global engineering organisation, who are No.1 in their field in their recruitment for a Project Manager to cover the regions of Welsh Water, Wessex Water and Severn Trent. The main focus of the role is to increase revenue and margin and ensure sales targets for all water and wastewater projects in the region are hit.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify key projects within relevant sectors (current and potential) and have a good understanding of the construction processes within water companies 
  • Take personnel responsibility for delivering certain key identified projects.
  • Identify and exploit opportunities to sell as broad a range of products as possible for a project 
  • Construct an annual Business Plan and Sales Platforms which are based on agreed targets. Need to be reviewed, communicated and updated throughout the year with clear responsibility to achieve target (price, volume and mix).
  • Identify key contacts and decision makers within the client, consultant and contractor base and coordinate to maximise revenue and profitability within agreed timescales.
  • To ensure a comprehensive hand over to the internal projects team is made after project orders have been secured.
  • Make appropriate tailored presentations to client, contractor and consultants o range of products including any new products and services.
  • Produce visit reports on customer visits most particularly noting actions agreed.  Ensure that these are appropriately circulated and that all complete their actions in a timely manner.
  • Utilise CRM to manage all projects and maintain accurate customer records.
  • Develop relationships with key decision makers within allocated accounts. 
  • Help monitor and feedback on competitor activity.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • To ideally be based in the West Midlands so they can easily access Welsh Water as well as Wessex and Severn Trent
  • Have a strong mechanical engineering background – whether that be through experience of qualifications
  • Water or wastewater experience and knowledge of how this industry works is essential
  • Valve industry experience is not essential but highly desirable
  • Have good experience and knowledge of working with CRM systems
  • Someone who has very good interpersonal skills and able to communicate well with people at all levels from engineers to senior commercial staff
  • Have strong presentation skills as they will need to tailor presentations to the water companies, consultancies and contractors to promote the range of products
  • Someone who is a self-starter and able to manage their own workload
  • Would consider graduates or even someone in their late 50’s, or also Mechanical Engineers who now want to get involved more in the supply chain
