Job Title: Project Technology (and Digital Service) Manager

Main Function of Job

We currently have an opportunity for a Project Technology (and Digital Service) Manager to join our team.

  • Develop and maintain a UK Protect Technology Strategy and advise on planned up-grades, usage, value and provide recommendations
  • Ensure the project technology systems are maintained, developed, and integrated in a progressive and efficient manner, provide reporting
  • Advise and support projects in their use of appropriate technology for project delivery. Co-ordinate and facilitate project centric application of technologies within the business, to meet Project Delivery requirements
  • Assess and review emerging and competing software and hardware systems and make recommendations on the UK&IRE investment strategy
  • Provide guidance on options associated with incremental change associated with existing and future software and services
  • Act as single point of contact for all design and analysis software vendors relating to their current and future strategy and managing associated contracts
  • Form an effective and proactive channel between central resources, professional technology representatives, project practitioners and the promoting of good technology use within the business

Main Duties
Overview

  • Enable and support the delivery of projects through the use of technology
  • Deliver the implementation of appropriate technology compliant with business process
  • Advises on current, emerging and future technology enabling project delivery
  • Act as the link between the business and design software suppliers


Project Technology and digital services within the Project Technology remit include:

  • CDE and data/information management
  • Digital services including, BIM, 4D and 5D, visualization, collaboration, coordination, GIS and associated software
  • CAD production e.g. modelling and drawing
  • Technical design and analysis
  • Manage a centralised team of Project Technology specialists capable of supporting design packages, technical analysis and document management systems, including: CDE & ProjectWise Application Analyst and administrator & Project Technology Analyst

Key tasks

  • Lead a centralised team of project technology staff in organising and delivering technical application solutions
  • Coordinate and facilitate business wide project centric application of technologies, specifically providing specialist knowledge in Bentley and Autodesk platforms
  • Liaise and coordinate with the ICT team in the testing, configuration and deployment of project technology based applications and services
  • Ensure all upgrade and new technology is managed and communicated effectively, providing a cradle to grave service (Requirements definition, solution development, selection, testing, configuration, deployment, aftercare Training, briefing and technical support)
  • Develop a strategic dialogue with disciplines to assess future directions and project requirements, provide an understanding of the potential of new applications and processes and their implementation in the business to reflect industry needs and requirements
  • Complete and coordinate the application lifecycle validation process for technical solutions, work with ICT and designated users ensuring validation and appropriate deployment
  • Develop and maintain a network of industry contacts and involvement in external user groups to inform the business of industry trends
  • Provide and support user skill assessment, advise and recommend training arrangements in liaison with HR Learning and Development team
  • Support and carryout application lifecycle, co-ordinate the testing, configuration, deployment, of new and existing digital technologies
  • Maintain the configuration of the Bentley / Autodesk / ESRI back office to reflect emerging technology, project and process needs.


Essential

  • Proven experience in the adoption of technology to deliver complex projects, primarily using Bentley Systems platforms, applications and services
  • Experience of the application and management of design systems to deliver projects
  • Passionately engaged with the effective application of technology within a challenging design environment
  • A keen and acquisitive learner of project technology tools and techniques
  • A good communicator with a sensitive and a customer focused approach to project technology management and use
  • Capable of successfully balancing a wide variety of activities alongside the sensitive handling of team members and professional users whilst engaged in a project based environment
