Job Description:

Full-time (37 hours per week) Culture & Community Manager contract to start on 06-09-21 until 31-08-22 with a possible extension.

What is the Job?

- Overall responsibility for the management of the in-house Cambridge Live services, including oversight of business activity and financial performance as well as line management of personnel responsible for key areas of activity: a) The Cambridge Corn Exchange (a 1738 capacity concert venue); b) The Guildhall Halls (conferencing and event programme); c) Cambridge Folk Festival (one of the most famous and long running folk festivals in the world); d) City Events (a programme of free community events including the Big Weekend, Bonfire Night and the Mayor’s Day Out); e) Box Office and associated marketing.

- Lead on the development and implementation of workplace policy and strategies for arts and culture and community facing equalities, diversity and inclusion with a clear focus on partnerships, evidence and advocacy and investment; demonstrating a clear focus on addressing corporate objectives. Lead on the development of strategy and policy around arts and cultural infrastructure; health and safety in relation to the management of workplace events and accessibility and equality within the cultural sector.

- Develop and manage internal relationships with relevant service areas both within Community Services, and across Corporate Strategy, Environment Services, Planning and Economic Development Services, Property Services, and Housing Services.

What are the requirements?

- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject, or vocational experience to the same level.

- Executive level understanding of the arts and entertainment business.

- Knowledge of business accounting and ability to design and manage complex financial budgets.

- Ability to lead services and teams and to inspire trust, confidence, respect and credibility from a range of people.

- Able to deal effectively with performance, conduct and absence issues.

- Excellent understanding of good customer service.

- Knowledge of project management and procurement principles.

- Awareness and understanding of diversity issues.

- Evidence of continuing professional development.

- Prince 2 or similar project management training.

- Financial management in the charitable/ third sector.
