Job Description:

Our client is looking for an experienced Accommodation Officer to work on a 36 hour per week contract role to start on the 27-11-17 until the 23-02-18 with a likely extension.

Hours: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Monday to Friday


Main Purpose of the Job

To be responsible for managing customers in temporary accommodation, liaising with customers, providers, other local authorities, central government bodies and other departments within the Clientl, and monitoring compliance with Client service standards. Working in high-performance team responsible to 1) Placements Team Leader and 2) The Temporary Accommodation and Allocations Manager.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

Collating and managing available temporary accommodation vacancies


Making decisions in respect of suitability of accommodation in accordance with current legislation


To be responsible for the day to day operation of placements and associated administrative and monitoring duties in the temporary accommodation and allocations team, including the Temporary Accommodation Choice-Based Lettings Pilot Scheme.


Monitoring compliance, performance and quality information, and other information used to inform reviews of third-party providers.  Contributing to quality indexing.


Dealing with compliance issues, often involving the public, and holding and contributing to internal, cross-borough meetings.


Holding and contributing to liaison meetings with third party providers.


Co-ordinate and manage performance management information and service responses relating to compliance and customer service standards



Technical and Job Specific Requirements



  • Knowledge of data management and analysis, and working with computer packages to a proficient level
  • Ability to work on several projects at once and to meet tight deadlines
  • Educated to A Level standard or equivalent
  • GCSE or equivalent in maths



  • Knowledge and experience of working in a local government environment , and of Housing legislation
  • Experience of working with a wide range of service-users and / or third party businesses
  • Experienced in using IT systems to manage information collection, analysis and reporting
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, with excellent interpersonal skills, making technical areas understandable to providers, and providing guidance and training to providers and staff.
  • Assertive but able to handle situations diplomatically
  • Ability to work as a team member making a strong contribution to the team and team targets and objectives.
  • Reliable and hard-working with an enthusiasm for delivering an excellent service.
