Job Description:

Our client is looking for an experienced Admin Assistant (Nursery) to work on a 35 hour per week contract role to start on the 11/12/17 until the 30-03-18 with a likely extension to the contract role.

Hours: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday,

 

We are looking for an administrative assistant to work in our busy local authority nursery based in Mitcham. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of working within an administrative capacity before and is required to work Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. The person must have a flexible approach to work and be able to prioritise duties on an ongoing basis and must have experience of using IT confidently. There is an element of reception work and the candidate must be able to demonstrate effective skills at communicating with members of the public, parents and children, and also be able to communicate effectively in writing and over the phone.

This post requires an enhanced DBS and candidates should not apply if they have any convictions or cautions which would make them unsuitable to work with children. If the successful candidate does not have an enhanced DBS, we are able to organise this as long as they have the relevant documentation.

 

  1. MAIN PURPOSE

 

  • To provide day-to-day administrative support to the Nursery Manager and the Finance and Business Support Officer.

 

  • To act as the first line of contact for all queries relating to the childcare services run by the client:

 

Experience / Qualifications / Skills / Knowledge:

 

  • Educated to GCSE or equivalent standard (including Maths and English) with good literacy and numeracy skills

 

  • Relevant experience of administrative work within an office environment.

 

  • Good knowledge, skills and understanding of using a variety of IT software packages for word processing, spreadsheets, E-mail, scheduling and presentations.

 

  • To have appropriate skills to manage a demanding workload, to work under pressure and to complete tasks within deadlines.

 

  • Ability to accurately maintain recording systems and ensure appropriate information sharing takes place.

 

  • Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with members of staff, children, parents and visitors.

 

  • Ability to draft and type correspondence.

 

  • Ability to work as a member of a team, sharing workloads with others, taking responsibility for areas of work, and maintaining an awareness of team priorities and responsibilities.

 

  • To have a good understanding of equal opportunities legislation and safeguarding procedures.

 

  • To have the ability to prioritise, plan and organise one's work.
