Lamonby Recruitment are delighted to represent a leading international supplier of high-performance plastic compounds, composites and resins who are looking for a Purchasing Manager / Purchasing Team Leader to join a busy team who will be reporting directly to the head of purchasing.
The successful Purchasing Manager / Purchasing Team Leader will ideally have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as either a Buyer, Senior Buyer or similar successful Purchasing Manager / Purchasing Team Leader type function and will be expected to supervise the operational purchasing functions. As well as ensuring the operational purchasing team follow the instructions and wishes of the Lead Buyers. You will resolve conflicts between customer services, purchasing and planning and conduct annual appraisals and to review and set goals and objectives.
In return you will be offered a competitive salary of up to £35,000 and 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
Purchasing Team Leader Role
Ensuring that the operational procurement team have the correct raw materials from the correct suppliers (as nominated by Strategic Purchasing) in the correct quantities to enable production to occur as planned. Minimum standards as set by internal audit must be maintained at all time.
Ensuring that stock records are accurate through a mix of full and targeted stock takes and to fully investigate any differences found. To oversee the stock take process and all system transactions.
To develop and implement initiatives to reduce overall stock levels and aged stocks and other working capital initiatives. To measure progress and to modify methods/initiatives as necessary. To support the Site Manager to ensure that site targets are met each financial year.
Day to day management of the Purchasing team. To monitor performance and to guide the team towards their own individual targets through development, guidance and via appraisal also.
To speak for and to make decisions on behalf of the operation procurement and planning function at BU level.
Responsible for the maintenance of material costings and current standards as directed by Lead buyers and Site Financial controller
Role Requirements and Qualifications
Very good working knowledge of ERP and planning software Syspro and Preactor. Good aptitude and ability to allow easy absorption of further cross-site IT Systems. Minimum of 3 years’ experience of solving problems and conflicts between customer demands and planning constraints. Awareness of stock control and working capital. Able to lead and motivate a team. Problem Solving skills Experience of supply chain problem solving (purchasing, planning and logistics) in which customer interests and demands are of the highest priority Guidance and Leadership skills Regular and frequent review and support as required by the daily needs of the purchasing team. Conducting annual appraisals and goal setting. Regular review and tracking of progress towards goals, review and reassessment as required. Human Relations Skills and Communication General good HR skills, time and attendance management. Maths, English GCSE mandatory plus higher educational qualifications at min A level standard. Minimum 5 years’ experience within planning, purchasing and supply chain in a make to order manufacturing environment. Experienced user of modern ERP systems including planning and MRP.
