Job Description:

Ashberry Recruitment are looking for a LGV/HGV Workshop Technician to work for their well respected client based in Morecambe.


Job Purpose:

Responsible for fixing problems associated with Customer and Company vehicles.  To perform preventive maintenance on vehicles, such as oil change, tyres, rotation and other tasks to prevent premature wear and tear.

Contribute towards the health and safety of all employees under direct management as well as deliver a high level of customer service on behalf of all work providers in a safe and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • To be able to use or source various diagnostic tools and procedures to determine the root cause of problems
  • Using hand tools and astute observation, to determine the cause of the issue
  • Correcting defects required
  • Welding to fix problems
  • To have extensive knowledge of a variety of service schedules for many makes and models of vehicles
  • Keeping the garage stocked with basic items such as fluids, filters and other commonly used items
  • Good communication with regular customers in order to resolve issues
  • Assemble and fit parts
  • Maintain tools to ensure safe and efficient operations
  • Determine which materials and equipment are needed for a given job
  • Carry out daily maintenance and safety checks on vehicles and on board equipment, or such other checks as may be required by statute, or as instructed
  • Drive the Company vehicles specified by your Manager, giving due regard to other road users and comply at all times with the current statutory vehicle and road traffic regulations
  • Provide a rapid response to stranded motorists
  • Carry out road side repairs
  • Give assurance to vulnerable drivers, general motoring advice and customer support
  • Provide workshop repairs to get customers back on the road in the shortest time possible
  • Assist with loading and off-loading of customers vehicles as necessary, signing for loads where applicable
  • Assisting with the loading and off-loading of vehicles at the Company's premises
  • Complete worksheets and other records daily 
  • Carry out other duties associated with your position, which are within your capabilities and competence normally carried out in the course of the Company's business

  • Due to the Companies variable workload you will be required to be on call and the position will require out of hours and overtime
