Job Description:



To be the pinnacle of technical knowledge, providing both pre-sales support and post-sales implementation in a way that clearly differentiates the company from other solution providers.  Senior Technical Consultants at my client are in fact Solutions Architects and will be completely self motivated with an ongoing desire to maintain their knowledge level at the forefront of technology. 

They will also be expected to ensure that solutions are provided in a quality fashion in keeping with the company’s ISO 9000 certification.  Finally they will be expected to act as mentor to two or three more junior members of the services team.


  • Must have face to face customer experience and have the ability to convince potential buyers of the soundness of the proposed solution. Demonstrable examples will be required.


  •  Ideally they will have current Check Point / Cisco accreditations – CCSE (Check Point) / CCDP (Cisco) would be ideal.

Other key requirements

  • 5+ years consultancy experience (Not from an end user / IT Manager background)
  • Be a real technologist in a couple of core areas – not a jack of all trades
  • Experience with the whole project lifecycle – presales, design, implementation etc….
  • Lives London / Thames Valley (or close by)
  • Happy with travel (mainly London, but could be countrywide)
  • Must be able to drive and have a car




  1. To work with sales account management and/or project management in assessing sales opportunities and subsequently developing the technical content of any response to an invitation to tender or request for proposal. In this pre-sales capacity, develop a full understanding of the customer’s technical requirements with a view to creating a long-term business relationship.  This may also include the delivery of presentations at seminars or to specific customers.
  2. To provide information, advice and support on the technical content of internal company projects.
  3. To ensure that all projects are approached and handled in a consistent, logical way in line with ISO 9000 certification.
  4. To work with the project management team in terms of the actual implementation of the solution, be prepared to actively participate in the actual roll-out (e.g. physical build of rack mounted servers and software installation).
  5. To provide training to other members of the service organisation in order to pass on skills and equally to act as mentor to two or three other members of the team.
  6. To ensure that your personal skills set is maintained as “state of the art”, either through self based training or the attendance of formal course training as approved by senior management. To pro-actively seek information on new products and technologies.
  7. Key technical strengths in the Systems Centre suite with either: SCOM, SCCM, Orchestrator, Operations Management, Configuration Management or Service Management.
  8. To propose new software or hardware technologies and vendors that you believe would present a good business opportunity to the Operation’s Board.
  9. To ensure that project plans and documentation are available on time and in line with the appropriate company standards.
