What your role will look like…

The role of ECAD Support Technician requires a broad range of skills to provide assistance in ECAD schematic and PCB design maintenance, ECAD part creation, as well as documentation creation and control within PLM system (Omnify).

The role offers training and development of PCB design skills using industry leading Mentor Graphics tools. You will work as part of a highly skilled and talented team of engineers to gain technical knowledge and experience, and will develop an understanding of PCB fabrication requirements and processes

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain schematic and PCB designs using PCB CAD software
  • Create and maintain PCB component libraries within the PCB CAD and Parts Database (PLM) systems
  • Maintain Bill of materials and PCB manufacturing data in PLM document management system
  • Raise and administrate engineering change requests
  • Generate PCB assembly process documentation/instructions
  • Prepare PCB and PCBa manufacturing data and ensure it is of the required standard to transfer smoothly to fabricators/suppliers
  • Ensure that ECAD processes and check-lists are kept up to date in line with Design for Manufacture (DFM) and liaise with relevant parties to obtain and record requirements
  • Communicate with relevant internal departments and external bodies where necessary in relation to PCB data and PCBa build information
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve project goals and objectives
  • Support R&D team with other duties to cope with peaks in demand

What we are looking for…

  • Ability to read, analyse and interpret common scientific and technical data
  • Ability to write clear and concise technical documentation
  • Experience of PCB layout
  • Understanding of PCB manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacture (DFM)
  • Knowledge of different types of electronic components
  • Ability to interpret electrical component datasheets to extract CAD symbol and footprint information
  • Ability to interpret mechanical design data
  • Engineering based HNC or HND level or relevant work experience
