The Team:

SAP Practice own and manage HMRC’s SAP estate, that includes SAP ETMP (Enterprise Tax Management Platform) and SAP systems supporting internal HR and Finance.
We work closely with diverse customer groups throughout the entire lifecycle, from inception of new initiatives, to leading on delivery and improvements to Live Services – all on behalf of our business customers.
The SAP Practice Change Delivery team support policy teams and operational colleagues to deliver business through our SAP functions, for example our services handle all payments in and out of HMRC and conduct millions of customer transactions.
Work coming into the team can originate from legislative changes, policy changes, improvements to the customer offering or ministerial requirements. Job description As an Associate Delivery Manager, you will play a key part in delivering HMRC’s business through SAP Capability, whether that is Finance, HR, Taxes or Procurement functions.
You will ensure any SAP changes and new pieces of work are safely delivered in line with strategy, policies, process and governance.
Working with partners in HMRC and the supplier community, you will help to ensure products or changes are produced to accurate requirements, support the delivery of our strategic objectives and be accountable for management of the change.
Whilst this is not a technical post, your inquisitive nature and enquiring mind mean you will quickly learn the IT related aspects of the role and the terminology.

This is not a post with line management responsibilities; however leadership is highly valued in HMRC and you will be expected to role model effective leadership behaviours and challenge others where behaviours fall short of expectations, in line with our commitment to providing a safe and respectful working environment for all.
While we are undertaking and embedding transformation activity, some flexibility within your role is to be expected.
The role is based in Worthing , some travel and overnight stays may be required when current restrictions are lifted.

Responsibilities In your role as Associate Delivery Manager role, you’ll work with customers in HMRC to understand their SAP project or change requirements and then work with them and suppliers to agree solutions. You’ll monitor and report on the delivery of the changes, assess risks and dependencies, and highlight issues to all stakeholders.

You’ll need to be a team player supporting overall SAP delivery, but equally responsible and accountable for your own work in a fast-paced environment.

This is a demanding and varied role where you’ll use you own collaboration and communication skills and will be backed with the IT tools and training to delivery high quality results that make a difference in the UK.
We will look to you to share your skills and knowledge with colleagues whilst we provide the learning you’ll need through our SAP Academy and other learning routes.

Other responsibilities include:

• Promote SAP standard and recommend preferred solutions to the Business
• Provide advice on the SAP elements when gathering requirements
• Proactively manage dependencies, overcome obstacles and get the best value against constraints such as time or cost
• Ensure outcomes are aligned with strategic direction t and future business models
• Be required to develop an understanding of specific SAP functionality and business operations, processes and systems (e.g. Taxes /Finance/HR).


Essential Criteria:

You will be able to demonstrate experience of
• Delivering multiple quality products and/or services in a fast-paced environment
• Handling complex and conflicting information through to conclusion
• Strong decision-making capability with the ability to analyse and evaluate data from a range of sources to make evidence-based recommendations
• Building and maintaining effective and collaborative partner relationships
• A range of communication skills when successfully delivering key messages to stakeholders
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.


Desirable criteria:

• Experience of working in a project environment
• Knowledge of different delivery methods
