About Wealthy:

Part of Wealthy & Mid-sized Business Compliance (WMBC), Wealthy’s job is to ensure wealthy individuals pay the right amount of tax.

Our approach is tailored to the risk that is presented by our customers - for those who present the greatest risk, we adopt a more intensive level of scrutiny, looking across all linked entities. We seek to identify wealthy individuals meriting temporary closer scrutiny, monitoring and providing support to get it right.

Wealthy are targeting resource to engage with customers who have significant levels of complexity and opportunity in relation to their personal tax affairs. This resource will focus on the High Risk Wealth Programme (HRWP) as well as developing our work in areas of high value and complex risk. Job description The tax affairs of the wealthy are often complex and involve structures and transactions that cut across multiple jurisdictions. You will regularly be addressing customers verbally and in writing on tax technical matters, continuously putting that knowledge into practice.

You will provide clear leadership, setting the strategy for investigations and provide effective oversight of the work carried out. As an enquiry coordinator you will have to use a range of soft skills to manage high profile stakeholders, both internal and external, providing challenge whether necessary. You will need to be able to critically assess areas in dispute and have the self-motivation to drive forward high risk wealthy programme cases to decision point.

Responsibilities As a senior manager, you will play a role in the way we operate across the whole business area. You will do this by:

• Leading and coordinating some of the highest profile cases within Wealthy .

• Researching complex issues on these cases to progress them to resolution at pace, you and your team will work with specialists across HMRC to achieve this.

• You will use the lessons learned from these cases to apply the principles to high complexity/ high opportunity cases outside the HRWP.

• Developing a deep understanding of the tax affairs of Wealthy customers, utilising your tax professional knowledge to identify risks.

• Using a range of tools and techniques to promote voluntary compliance along with preventing and responding to non-compliance.

• Building capability for your team working closely with the learning and professionalism unit to ensure the team has the technical capability to ensure success.

• Reporting to the Assistant Director National Operations (AD) you will be encouraged to take an active leadership role as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

Essential Criteria:

You are required to demonstrate experience of the following within your application:

• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.

• Self-motivated and highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver to tight timelines with minimal direction.

• Have a proven understanding across all main areas of Capital Gains Tax and Income Tax, including anti-avoidance provisions.

• Excellent evidence-based decision-making skills and confidence in owning and communicating those decisions.

Additional Essential Requirements and Qualifications:

• Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) qualification, or

• Chartered Accountant (ICAEW, ICAS, CAI, ACCA) qualification or

• Successfully completed the HMRC Tax Specialist Programme, or one of its predecessors (TPDP, IDP, ITS2, CPT, FT2) or

• Be a qualified solicitor with post qualification experience in income or capital gains tax Qualifications • Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) qualification, or

• Chartered Accountant (ICAEW, ICAS, CAI, ACCA) qualification or
