Mechanical Design Engineer

We are working for a leading specialist manufacturer in their search for a dynamic mechanical design engineer with experience of working with R&D projects. You will be responsible for designing gas, hydraulic and process systems from first principles.

Salary of a Mechanical Design Engineer

£35,000 - £45,000

Job Description of a Mechanical Design Engineer

• To be an operational member of the design team to ensure systems are delivered on time and to specification.
• Concept system design including circuits, pumps, tooling and fabrication.
• Produce engineering calculations to ensure specifications are met.
• Produce P&ID drawings and bill of materials for each design using AutoCAD.
• Produce detail drawings and general arrangement drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
• Lead on design reviews to communicate system design to full project team.
• Creating technical files and data books including: PED, ATEX/IECEx & Customer quality documentation.
• Support the continuous improvement program.
• Liaise and negotiate with customers to ensure system requirements are met.
• Assist manufacturing with commissioning both on and off site.

Skills & experience of a Mechanical Design Engineer

• Must have an appropriate Engineering Related Degree.
• Experienced user of 3D CAD using Autodesk Inventor or a similar package.
• Experience of producing P&ID drawings and bill of materials.
• General understanding of thermodynamics.
• General understanding of mechanical design and calculations.
