Job Description:

Our Client are a Global Retailer servicing more than 550 retail stores across the UK, Europe, Middle East and the US. They are currently looking to recruit a Tax Accountant to support Finance with timely processing and reporting of HMRC based out of their West London Head Office.

Reporting to International Trade and Compliance Manager, principle duties include;

  • Daily processing of transactions in Langdons System to ensure that the accounting records are up to date and enable the calculation of Duty payment
  • Maintain/update system procedural documentation to enable review and audit by internal and external audit
  • Maintain and communicate the Company Tax & Duty reporting timetable to ensure all persons impacted by Tax and duty reporting are aware of the statutory deadlines
  • Preparation and submission of monthly/periodic returns to HMRC for Excise, CCT, Vat and Intrastat data to ensure compliance with relevant tax legislation and avoid penalty charges
  • Completion of NSO Annual Business enquiry returns to ensure compliance with NSO rules for reporting business data
  • Calculates and posts accurate GL journals for tax & duty liabilities to ensure that the accounting records correctly reflect all liabilities
  • Prepare monthly/periodic balance sheet reconciliations for all Vat and duty accounts to ensure integrity of all data processed in the general ledger
  • Co-ordinate annual audit report and inspections
  • Undertake ad hoc reporting of tax & duty transactions e.g. assessment of financial impact following annual budget
  • Ensure end to end processes are in place and followed for duty and tax management
  • Undertake any other tax and compliance related work as directed by line manager

Person Specification

  • ACCA Studier or Part Qualified with experiences around VAT and intrastat reporting to HMRC
  • Strong experiences in dealing with spreadsheets and volume data including knowledge of Excel Pivot Tables & v Lookups
  • Experienced in calculating Tax & Duty liabilities in Import / Export within a retail environment
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations, and reporting on Tax and Duty transactions
