My client was established in the late 1970’s and is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of specialist equipment for a variety of industries. They have a number of sites across the globe, leading projects up to a worth of £2 million.

Salary of a Quantity Surveyor

Up to £35,000 depending on experience.

Job Description of a Quantity Surveyor

  • Prepare and issue applications and advise internally expected cashflow through a chosen report tool including payment certs and retention releases.
  • Improve the profitability and competitive performance of the business through selling and negotiating skills and maximising opportunities
  • Maintain good levels of communication with other departments within the Company to ensure good information is received into and from the Projects team, this includes warehouse, sales, projects, marketing & accounts.
  • Can look to assist the PM along with Purchasing Dept. to negotiate on supply chain, 3 prices and analysis of supplier payment terms vs contract payment terms to look at the right fit for Business per project.
  • Valuation of works on all live projects.
  • Certification of payments for the supply chain including sub-contractors.
  • Liaison with various members of the Accounts team on cash inflow and outflows.

Skills & experience of a Quantity Surveyor

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor
  • Degree level qualified, preferably within the Built Environment or Construction field (Commercial Management, Business Studies, Facilities Management or Engineering also considered/desirable)
  • Must have valid full driving license
  • Excellent organisational & communicational skills are essential
  • Experience in preparing and negotiating legal and commercial aspects of sizeable contracts
  • Flexible to travel both domestically and internationally
  • Proven experience in negotiating complex deals with third party suppliers
