Hardware Team Leader - 6 month contract - Rochester - £65.00ph UMB or £50.58ph PAYE (Inside IR35)

The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Please note, the rate paid by the Umbrella will be less, as will a Limited Deemed rate or Agency PAYE rate. Please get in touch to discuss the rates via these different payment vehicles.

Security requirements:

SC + ITAR

This role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You will need to obtain a Criminal Record Check. You must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC. In addition, this role involves direct access to ITAR Material. Therefore we can only consider UK Nationals for this position. Hardware Team Leader

As a Hardware Team Leader, you will lead a team of highly skilled and experienced hardware engineers responsible for the design lifecycle of our electronic solutions for cutting-edge products such as Helmet Mounted & Head-Up Displays, Mission Computers, Flight Controls, Active Inceptors and other associated safety critical technology.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, your main responsibilities as a Hardware Team Leader will involve:

  • Managerial and technical leadership of an electronics design team
  • Work package management; cost, schedule, risk & opportunities
  • Ensuring development programme execution in accordance with the hardware development plan
  • Providing technical governance and ensuring adherence to company design processes
  • Leading cost & performance trade-offs

Your skills as a Hardware Team Leader:

  • Able to demonstrate high performance and achievement in leadership and management of engineering teams through a full product development lifecycle
  • Proven experience / knowledge of cost and planning management tools
  • Proven experience / knowledge of risk and opportunities management
  • Proven experience of both electronics design and programmable logic (PLD/FPGA) design practises
  • Proven experience of optimising solutions and minimising impacts from dependencies
  • Proven experience in product architectural design, performing engineering trade-offs & defining technical requirements
  • Experience of design and identifying improvements to working practices and team skill development
  • Proven understanding of product design and work package control

The working knowledge of the following tools/standards would be advantageous:

  • Mentor Graphics Expedition Enterprise
  • Requirements management tools, e.g. DOORS
  • Work-package management tools, eg. MSP, JIRA, etc.
  • DO-254 Design Assurance Guidance for Airborne Electronic Hardware

  • Have good relationship management skills
  • Able to work collaboratively with other disciplines to optimise solutions and minimise impacts
  • Experienced in the development of avionics equipment, specifically high-speed digital designs, mission computing & digital video processing products
