We are seeking an Assistant Engineer with demonstrable technical and project delivery experience involving new build analysis, detailed design, bridge inspection, assessment and rehabilitation schemes. You will be passionate about bridge design, have a desire to succeed and be part of a winning team. The role will be based in from a Gloucester office.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of bridge and bridge related structural scheme designs at feasibility, preliminary and detailed design stages
  • Undertaking design or assessment calculations
  • Supervising the production of design drawings or other project related design deliverables
  • You will be responsible for resolving technical issues as they occur and for the monitoring of progress of your areas of responsibility
  • Organising and carrying out General, Principal & Special Bridge Inspections
  • Assisting with the preparation of documentation relating to bridge projects


Essential:

  • Relevant accredited engineering degree, Minimum 2:1
  • Working towards full membership of an appropriate professional body such as the ICE
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills
  • Committed to work and capable of managing own tasks, costs and meeting deadlines
  • Self-motivated and able to work as part of a team
  • Good IT skills
  • Good communicator (written, verbal & presentations)
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts within the team and to the client and stakeholders


Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Eurocodes in the field of bridge design and the DMRB
  • Experience of using a structural engineering software
  • Proficient with use of AutoCAD
  • Experience of bridge design, analysis, assessment and inspection
  • Experience of bridge construction and or refurbishment
  • Health and Safety training in the Bridges Sector
  • Experience of undertaking client facing roles and an ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Experience of planning, organising and managing packages and projects
  • Experience of commercial and risk management for the delivery of work to budget and program, to control costs and manage change control processes
  • A full driving license
