If so, we, at Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S), are actively looking for Safety Practitioners, initially joining one of the teams within our Air Domain.

If you are a Safety Practitioner looking to influence safety decisions across the project lifecycle of multiple projects, we want you to join our vision to save lives by ensuring our Armed Forces are equipped with capable, safe-to-operate equipment, working across Helicopters, Large Aircraft, Training Aircraft and a variety of other exciting and interesting platforms.

Please note that, due to their secure nature, some of these posts are reserved for sole UK nationals. These posts may allow you to base yourself out of a variety of locations; two will be based in Yeovil, one at RAF Brize Norton, and the remainder at MOD Abbey Wood.


As our Safety Practitioner, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
* Contributing to the development and maintenance of policy and process to satisfy the DE&S corporate standards for Acquisition Safety Management
* Working with colleagues at all levels to ensure compliance with relevant UK and EU legislation and regulations, MOD regulations and DE&S Policy
* Supporting the development and management of effective Safety Management Systems; identifying and analysing hazards and contributing to the identification and evaluation of risk reduction measures, ensuring that these are adequately documented and managed
* Specifying safety-related systems architectures up to the highest safety integrity levels
* Managing contractual aspects to ensure safety requirements are captured and manages contractors who perform safety activities
* Providing informed safety advice to decision makers through Project Safety Panels

What you will be assessed against

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:
* You will hold a minimum of a Level 4 (e.g. HNC) qualification in a relevant Science/Engineering related subject or will demonstrate the equivalent experience
* You will holds, or be working towards, Practitioner status in System Safety
* You will hold Professionally Registered status or will demonstrate the equivalent knowledge, skills and experience
* You will be a Member of a recognised Professional body or are able to achieve this within 12 months of starting in the post
* You will have experience in the use of ASEMS and System Safety Management Tools & Processes
* You will have experience of providing technical advice and delivery of safety products or services from within an Air environment
