Job Description:

Senior Systems Engineer - 6 month contract - Portsmouth - £45.49ph UMB or £35.40ph PAYE (Inside IR35)

The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Please note, the rate paid by the Umbrella will be less, as will a Limited Deemed rate or Agency PAYE rate. Please get in touch to discuss the rates via these different payment vehicles.

This role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You will need to obtain a Criminal Record Check. You must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC. In addition, this role involves direct access to ITAR Material. Therefore we can only consider UK Nationals for this position. Job description:

We are looking for Senior Systems Engineer to join a growing multi-disciplinary team of Engineers within the Engineering Projects Group (EPG). EPG is part of Engineering & Digital Services, within the wider Maritime Services business and is currently expanding to meet the demands of developing engineering solutions for the next generation Royal Navy submarines

Within EPG, working across crucial elements of the engineering lifecycle, activity stems from requirement gathering to qualification. Responsibility for eliciting requirements from a range of stakeholders, and then deriving those requirements to the appropriate level for subsystem specification. Participating in activities supporting the ongoing maturity of the design for a range of marine engineering systems.

The role holder will have experience in:

  • Requirement analysis and derivation at sub-system level, in addition to defining and capturing qualification statements/cases against requirements.
  • Using proprietary UML based visual modelling and design toolsets to structure design definition of complex engineering and auxiliary systems.
  • Systems engineering experience gained from one or more areas of the systems engineering lifecycle/ V-model, such as: systems integration, system verification testing, software testing, system design etc.
  • Knowledge or at least recognition of relevant engineering standards (including safety and environmental regulations).
  • Experience utilising software packages such as UML based modelling toolsets.
  • Requirements management experience with software tools such as DOORS and familiar with IT networks and general office applications.
  • Honours degree or equivalent experience in the appropriate discipline.
  • Capable of achieving the appropriate Professional Institution membership
