Production Engineering Manager


Job Description:

Excellent opportunity to join a progressive, forward thinking Automotive manufacturing company based in the Warwick area.

Our client is looking for a Production Engineering Manager with a minimum of 5 years' experience in managing multi-functional teams.

Ideally you will have the following background:

New Product & Process Introduction

- Ensure on time introduction of new product designs, upgrades & manufacturing processes, within agreed budgetary, resource & financial criteria in line with project plans.
- Establish & define methods of production supported by the appropriate documentation & job training.
- Ensure multidiscipline project teams are resourced as required, ensuring milestones & key dates are achieved. Reporting of any slippage with the causal factors, supported by the appropriate remedial action to meet business/project objectives.
- Conduct designed for manufacture review activities.
- Actively seek cost down and process improvements to reduce standard build hours.
- Investigate and evaluate new technologies in order to improve operational efficiency.

Jigs Fixtures, Tooling & Material Handling

- Specification of jigs, fixtures, hand tools & special tools, supported with drawings & source as appropriate.
- Calibration & checking of critical features on tooling, to ensure repeatability & conformance to drawing, taking remedial action as required.
- Develop preventative maintenance schedules to ensure tooling remains in a serviceable condition, minimising lost time/down time.

Process Control, Methods & Standards

- Establish & define methods of production supported by the appropriate documentation & job training.
- Establish accurate time values by analytical estimating, work measurement, or video.
- Provisions of information for line balancing & workplace layout, ensuring tact times are achieved.
- Implement, maintain and monitor PMS (production monitoring system)

People, Training & Development

- Ensure the team understand their jobs & associated responsibilities.
- Set clear & achievable targets, monitoring performance & providing regular feedback & support.

- Deal with any issues arising within the team, including absence, return to work interviews, timekeeping, poor performance & misconduct, ensuring any disciplinary action taken is within company policies & procedures.
- Recruitment of employees, operating within HR policies & procedures
- Ensure suitable levels of resource to achieve targets.
- Ensure job cover & cross training exists for all team positions.
- Review training & development needs for the company, individuals & self-making the appropriate recommendations.
- Conduct annual performance appraisals on all reports, & ensure the process is cascaded down within the organisation.
- Actively promote a strong team working ethic throughout the plant, with good levels of employee engagement, being especially aware of the need for teamwork at peer level.
- Ensure job cover & cross training exists for all team positions.
- Take responsibility for apprentices liaising with the provider & D.E. HR Manager as necessary.

Miscellaneous Duties & Responsibilities

- Carry out any other duties & responsibilities as & when required by the company to achieve objectives, inclusive of specific projects.
